Pretty Short Tonight Folks

Well first off I'd like to say that I've got a surprise. I've found my way and have gotten 2 tickets to the Rush Concert, and am acompanying Jamsie there. I'm very excited and i will have a countdown. There are 73 days of today.

First story is about the Stones, The Rolling Stones:
We all know that we love different members of the stones, personally my favorite is Keith Richards who happened to call "Mick Jagger" a power freak. As lead of the band Mick Jagger is always on his toes and is always calling the shots. Is this a problem? Well according to this article Richards has no problem telling reporters that Jagger is a maniac. Link

Second Story is a story from onion(not always true but always funny) about Bush:
Bush says he wants to start new and make the country better. That is all i'm gonna say. You know the story is fake after that line. Link

In honor of Rush Tickets, Rush seems appropriate.
Jamsie happened to give me a great video here it is:

Well thats all folks

Well, we all have to come out of hiding sometime :)

Well as all of you know, I haven't posting anything. The last post that I posted was before I left for Spain in December. After that truly I forgot about all of you up until Jamsie reminded me of the sight. That was about a month ago, and I was to scared to start again. Today, I've decided to bring you back my funny view of the world. I hope you all enjoy it and i will try to post every day if not every other.

Today on the list is: A man who stabs another over Democratic Primary, Pets are finally getting anti-depressants, a kids shot in a snowball fight (sad), to cheer us up is a John Lennon video.

Man who stabs his brother in law because of the primaries.
This was just a funny story because it just shows how mindless people become after the elections. People become so caught up in what they believe the lose common sense. Not much more to say. Read it! Link

Pets are finally getting anti-depressents
This is a touchy topic which i've always wondered about. Animals that are captured and given owners who are not taken care of are bound to become depressed. Its not like they have thier friends or any thing they can communicate with. If these drugs are proven to work, I really agree with this trend. This is contreversial topic, which I will make sure to track more, but i really encourage you to tell me what you think. Link

Kid shot in a snowball fight.
This is a sad story and the title says all, except for the fact that the person who shot the kid was a grown adult. Alledgedly he was hit in the head and angered whothen went inside grabbed a gun and he came back and shot the kid. This story is just messed up. Thats the only way I can describe it. It was the kid's 16th birthday and the gunmen still isn't found. This is why we need a gun ban so that crazy people like this can't run around the streets. Comment it. Link

Finally John Lennon Short Movie.
The title says it all watch it! Link

Well thats all the news stories for today.
As for the song of the day, it is a band of the day.
Here it is: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=330821516

The Kinks (My favorite is song is called Strangers, but its not on this page, Youtube it.)

Who is afraid of the big bad wolf?

Mr. Armadillo over there is quite busy with his finals, studying and what not, so I'm going to fill in a bit. Add a little bit of my bottled sparkle to the journal, you know.

News wise, something that pleased me greatly was New Jersey's decision to outlaw the death penalty. This was decided last Thursday, with a 21 - 16 approval in the state Senate followed by a 41 - 36 vote in the state Assembly. There has not been anyone put to death in New Jersey since 1963, and it will be the first state to have banned this practice in forty years. This was brought to my attention yesterday, after seeing this article where they look at it from the perspective of people "getting off," including the man who gave the reason for establishing Megan's Law. I've personally never agreed with that idea, my opinion is more along the lines that the death penalty is a cruel, yet easy way out. People who do these sort of things should be made to think about what they've done every single day and should remember that they could have easily avoided being placed in a jail cell in the first place. I also will never be able to agree with the purposeful death of any living thing, even if that living thing has committed something as horrible as murder. A quote for this would be "An eye for an eye and the whole world is blind" by Mohandas Gandhi.

One person's perspective that I've always found interesting is that of Matthew Shepard's father, Dennis Shepard. Matthew Shepard was a man who, in 1998, was brutally attacked for being gay. He died less than a week later. When Matthew's parents were faced with the possibility of Aaron McKinney's (One of the attackers) death sentence, they chose two consecutive life sentences without parole instead. His father had this to say:

"... Mr. McKinney , one final comment before I sit and this is the reason that I stand before you now. At no time since Matt was found at the fence and taken to the hospital have Judy and I made any statements about our beliefs concerning the death penalty. We felt that would be an undue influence on any prospective juror. Judy has been quoted by some right wing groups as being against the death penalty. It has been stated that Matt was against the death penalty. Both of these statements are wrong. We have held family discussions and talked about the death penalty. For example, he and I discussed the horrible death of James Byrd, Jr. in Jasper, Texas. It was his opinion that the death penalty should be sought and that no expense should be spared to bring those responsible for this murder to justice. Little did we know that the same response would come about involving Matt. I, too, believe in the death penalty. I would like nothing better than to see you die, Mr. McKinney. However, this is the time to begin the healing process. To show mercy to someone who refused to show any mercy. To use this as the first step in my own closure about losing Matt. Mr. McKinney I am not doing this because of your family. I am definitely not doing it because of the crass and unwarranted pressures put on by the religious community. If anything, that hardens my resolve to see you die. Mr. McKinney, I'm going to grant you life, as hard as it is for me to do so, because of Matthew. Every time you celebrate Christmas, a birthday or the fourth of July, remember that Matthew isn't. Every time you wake up in that prison cell, remember that you had the opportunity and the ability to stop your actions that night. Every time that you see your cell mate, remember that you had a choice and now you are living that choice. You robbed me of something very precious and I will never forgive you for that. Mr. McKinney, I give you life in the memory of one who no longer lives. May you have a long life and may you thank Matthew every day for it.

Your honour, members of the jury, Mr. Rerucha, thank you."

Things for everyone to ponder, right?

In other news, this time for your health - Popcorn makers have finally decided to get rid of diacetyl. Diacetyl, which occurs naturally in various dairy products and fruits, has been found to be the cause of something known as "popcorn lung." This illness is prevalent in those working in the factories that produce the popcorn, but one case has been thought to be discovered in a consumer. All of the products containing diacetyl for Orville, Act II, Jolly Time, and Pop Secret should be phased out by January.

Sometimes you want to just strangle some people you read about...

Well heres one of those cases. The story: A Student at a High School in California, has gotten his parents to sue a well known History teacher at Capistrano Valley High School in Tustin. His charges are as follows: the teacher, James Corbett, allegedly said "Highly inappropriate comments" toward the students regarding Christianity. The exact charges are hypocritical in that, he was comparing Muslim people who have been ridiculed to Christians. The ironic part about all these charges is that his class has the highest AP pass rate at the school which is way over the state standard.

Well heres what I think about this article. First off the charges are for lack of a better word dumb. If a teacher has proven results, and was defending the Muslim culture by saying that Christians would do worse in effect, the case should be dropped. Considering I wasn't obviously there or don't know what happened, I can not comment on what he actually said, but from what the articles have told me and various people I know who go to that school say he didn't do anything wrong. I think this is some kid trying to get fame and get in the news. The student and his parents want to get the school to fire the best APMEH at the school, which is obviously a mistake if its better than the state standard. People I know will be attending a protest to support him this Wednesday, so I encourage you all to support them.

To me this is hypocritical in every way, because if a teacher were to say something about another religions such as Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, or Sikhism and a kid was offended the case wouldn't turn out this big. The article clearly says that he was defending Muslims by saying that other groups like Christians are more prone to do acts like rape. Well thats all I have to say about this article. Comment what you think about it:

The second article of the day is on a funnier note. As many of you know, and cough cough as many of you hate cough cough, the Bush Administration is in power right now. To some people this man has ruined our country, and to others he has um.... killed our country. Well in light of the recent scandal with the CIA tapes, there is another thing that proves that our government is hiding information from us. This article shows the amount of paper shredding that has been done by our government. Since Bush has been in office this number has gone exponentially higher until the point where it hit, 600% higher than before Bush took office. The amount of money they spend doing this is in the millions and is ridiculous.

Well heres the article, laugh at your own will:
http://radaronline.com/exclusives/2007/12/bush-secret-shredding-soars.php

The third article tonight is well sort of weird. First off there are two things weird with this article is first that it has do with cloning and second that it had to do with changing genes. This Video/Article talks of Scientists in South Korea cloning a cat, but not just any cat, a cat that they manipulated the genes of thus causing weird effects. I'm not going to give away the secret, but watch this video and you will be intrigued.

The video brings up a good controversy though. The controversy of Man vs. God. Does man have the power to clone something giving it life? To me if this is done a humane way and has no effects to both the clone and the clone's counterpart and is not a painful experience I think this could be a worthwhile expirement. Currently I believe the U.S. is banning cloning but it could be the future. The only other comment I have for this video is that I hope that the cats were in no way harmed. Well its pretty interesting so check it out:

Kenyan Lady Slaps a Man?

You read it right folks, one of today's articles is about the Kenyan First Lady, slapping an official of high rank on National T.V. First off, I would like to say I personally think that this article is hilarious and worth the time it takes to read it.

The point of an article is to try and talk about a man suing Kenya's First Lady because of the fact that she slapped him. The images were seized and erased and the woman supposedly slapped him because of the man mispronouncing her name. The title says it all folks. Well here it is:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/7143097.stm

On a more serious non slapping topic, the second article for today is one from an independent site that is worth checking out. The site is called The Drudge Retort and the url is: http://www.drudge.com/

The article is an article discussing the president's recent vetoing of the bill, get this, that would raise the healthcare provided for children. This is the second tome Bush has vetoed this bill which if put in effect would have institued another 35 billion dollars into State's Children Health Insurance program over the next five years and would have helped 10 million kids in poor situations to enroll.

According to Bush this bill would raise taxes on cigarettes, and Oh Know, cigarettes would have cost a couple cents more. In the first form of the bill, Bush also said that it targeted the wrong audience, saying that it was made to help the middle class instead of the children in poverty. Amazingly Bush used the same reasoning to veto this bill as the other version. The difference between the bills, was that in the newer version the health care would only go to children in families with a gross income of 60,000 per 4 or less. According to Bush, the goal of Health care is to move people who don't have health care to private organizations instead of moving others to government organizations.

To me this article just shows how much our conuntries' values have been declining. Just because the president doesn't want to add a couple cents to every cigarette box, millions of kids will go without health care. The program is now only at 5 billion dollars, and will soon fail according to estimates. I think that Bush's vetoing of the bill if the general congress won by a majority, is an uneducated idea, because this is Bush's 7 veto in 7 years.

Well here it is:
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/12/13/MNHATT1BB.DTL&feed=rss.news

The Final article for the day is one I read in the newspaper this morning. It talked about a new energy bill being passed in congress that said that cars had to be higher in the MPG than the standard at the moment. Although I couldn't find this article on line, or find a way to put it on line, I have found an article like it to suffice.

In this article, it talks about the climate talks coming to an end and how the countries involved are in dissent before the talks close. The U.S. is the number one greenhouse gas emmiter and it met with Bali to discuss is cuts in emissions. With disagreements on all sides the talks could end up meaningless. To me these talks are worth the time, becuase it is true as Americans we do release too much greenhouse gas. But we need to go about it the right way, and the way it was done in the talks only left countries in more disagreement.

Here's the article tell me what you think:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/7143613.stm

Well thats all the articles for today.

The Song of the day is a favorite of mine, and its called Video Killed the Radio Star by the Buggles and it goes something link this:

Very revolutionary song, and I respect it alot.

Two Articles for Today

For Today I would like to take the pleasure of bringing back a week old article regarding one of our republic candidates. Some of you might recall Mitt Romney as just the Mormon candidate. But to many this candidate means more and to some, he is a curse to the nation. In the following article read what he has to say about his Mormon beliefs. I found the whole situation to be a bit ironic. The funny part about this election is that we have the most diverse candidates running for our most highest honor in our country. Yet we doubt the morals and intentions of these people.

The other funny thing is that, as our president we should this man should be able to tell us all his beliefs, but clearly through his speech he has not. Another interesting nuance in this whole agenda is the fact that John F. Kennedy was a staunch religious man and no one doubted him as much as Mitt Romney.

Well you can decipher for yourself if this article means something or if it is just blabbering about something that no one cares about. I will ask that you post your opinions about Mitt Romney's faith and if the country is overreacting.

http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/12/06/romney.speech/index.html#cnnSTCText

The Second Interesting article that I have found is about the ongoing trial of the CIA's destruction of prisoner interrogation tapes. After hearing about this last week I was wondering what this would lead to, or if it would play out as a major news piece. Well to my satisfaction this case has played out, and here is the information as it sounds right now.

About a couple years ago, I first learned that there was a prison in Guantanamo Bay specifically for Prisoners of War. Later on, as I recall I heard of various scandals where the lieutenants were abusing the prisoners that had no fair trial. This was at first an outrage to me, until i heard something that made me flip out. The reasoning for this base outside of the mainland of U.S. was because the constitution does not apply to them first because they are not citzens and second because they aren't on U.S. soil. This corruption was wicked to me and I started hearing more and more abuse cases and sexual harassments charges. As time went on, the name of the prison started to disappear and until this article I had forgotten about the place.

Well here is what is going on now: The CIA has been caught for destroying interrogation tapes. Their reasoning was that they were trying to protect "the identities of the agents."To most people this is an attempt to hide the torture tapes to save themselves from the law. Now there is a huge case on it, and this could easily turn out to be the next Watergate scandal. My personal opinions about this article are, that first the CIA has no right to hide the tapes from the Judaical System and second that, the fact that this happened in 2005, and no one has looked into it is ridiculous. Well no more waiting here is the article, decide for yourself what you think.

Second Post Ever

Well I have decided that I would like to try something sort of. The idea is this, every day I will link a song that has in someway affected my life, or so speak is just a good song. Also i will try to find an interesting article everyday and post it for the public to view. If anyone has comments or an article/song they would like me to post, please feel free to do so.

Today that song is:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=0VNx78SAq8M

The news article of the day is:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7135200.stm

The song of the day encompasses a sort of Dishabille attitude and I think it is a great song to listen to if your having a boring day, or something does not go your way.

The article of the day is a shout out to one of my friends who is in love with the band Led Zeppelin.

Well thats all for today folks.
